elipsLife added two new roles to its Executive Team to strengthen the oversight of its business and appointed Claude Schwarz, Chief Underwriting Officer, as of 1 October and Ettore Franzolin, Chief Risk Officer, as of 1 January 2021, as Executive Team members, both subject to regulatory approval.
Claude Schwarz, Chief Underwriting Officer and Member of the Executive Team, is a highly experienced actuary in the group life business with international experience and more than 20 years in the insurance industry. In 2017 Claude Schwarz joined elipsLife as Global Head Pricing and Actuarial Services from Swiss Re, and assumed the role of Chief Underwriting Officer and Advisor to elipsLife’s Executive Team in April 2020. He accumulated his wealth of expertise in pricing, product development, actuarial tool development, business steering and actuarial governance in various positions at Swiss Re Life & Health Reinsurance. Claude Schwarz reports to the respective unit head at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions and to Christoph Gaus, elipsLife CEO.
Ettore Franzolin, Chief Risk Officer and Member of the Executive Team, is taking over from Christina Müller who joined elipsLife as Chief Risk Officer in November 2018. Ettore Franzolin joined Swiss Re in 2010 as a pricing actuary and is now the Head Global Risk Management, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions. He brings strong and holistic risk management experience and knowledge in risk analytics, capital allocation and planning, as well as operational risk management to elipsLife. In addition to his new role as CRO of elipsLife, Ettore Franzolin will continue to act as Swiss Re’s Head Corporate Solutions Global Risk Management. Ettore Franzolin also reports to Christoph Gaus, elipsLife CEO.
